We are so sorry that you are going through this. Preparing to say goodbye or suddenly losing a child is something no parent should have to experience.

From Lily

In 2016, when our firstborn, Lily, was diagnosed with an incurable medical condition and we were told her life would be short, we were blindsided. Overnight, we became medical parents. For most of Lily’s life, we made our world small, living in a bubble with her, soaking in every moment while navigating the complexities of her care.

While we focused on the day-to-day medical needs, there are things we wish we had known to prioritise, things we didn’t even realise were important at the time. The value of memory-making, keepsakes, photography, video and creating tangible reminders that would stay with us long after our girl was gone.

Parenting a child who is dying is isolating. It wasn’t until later that we discovered the books, podcasts, journals, and resources that could have brought us comfort. A little help from Lily is our offering to you, to help navigate meaningful resources, memory-making, and the non-medical support available for the loss of a child, whether it is sudden or something you are tragically preparing for.

If your child is younger than 2, the pregnancy and infant loss specific resource A little help from Jack has additional targeted resources for grief and bereavement. We also invite you to follow @alittlehelpfromjack on Instagram to find the most up-to-date information and resources, and connect with relevant social media accounts.

Some of it may resonate with you, some may not. Every experience is uniquely your own, but we hope this companion can provide some comfort, connection and support, now and into the future. Mostly, we hope it helps you know you are not alone.

Sending all our love to you and your beautiful family.
